For my mommy

This was my first day flying solo as mom of two cherubs. Grandparents are gone and Danny had a full day of work out at Pt. Reyes today. I was intimidated, so I called Lolo to come bail me out for a couple of hours, and take Jack to the park. But it hasn't been so bad. I even had time to get out the camera.

My mom is coming to visit in just a couple of days, and I know she's excited to meet Sadie, but she has also remarked a few times that she wanted better pictures of Sadie to tide her over. So here you go, mom. Up close and personal with Sadie Grace.

This photo shoot got cut short by a projectile spit-up of unbelievable magnitude, right after I snapped the bottom right one. I'm not kidding, it was like a volcano. I had been experimenting with different angles on the back and on the tummy and I guess all the back and forth made her sea sick. When you're breastfeeding, you have no idea how much your kid is eating until they lose it all at once like that. Now I guess I know why Sadie has already put on a pound since birth.

I keep seeing newborn photo shoots on my sister's blog, those lucky people who aren't even related to her but live near enough that they can enlist her talents to capture their baby's babyness for all time. I am jealous, and my feeble attempts to reproduce what she does are almost tragic. Sadie is so much prettier than these photos and I am not doing her justice. And I'm sure my sister's photo shoots never produce volcanic eruptions. So we will just wait patiently until April, by which point I'm sure Sadie's hair will have all fallen out and she'll be right in the thick of baby acne. But she'll still be beautiful to me!

Oh, she's so pretty! She looks a little like you and a lot like Jack did! You must make the most amazing milk - one pound in two weeks!?!
