Not quite ready for trick or treating...

Jack gets excited about a lot of things. Wearing a big fat teddy bear costume and navigating through swarms of other costumed kids to get candy is not one of them. Jack could not care less about candy (I guess I should enjoy this while it lasts). Give him a piece of smoked salmon and he will be much happier. He gets a little nervous around lots of big kids that are pushing and shoving. And, I cannot emphasize this enough, he does not see the logic in wearing some uncomfortable bear head on his perfectly good own head, no matter how cute it may look. So Halloween was kind of a bust this year. We tried to take him trick or treating down College Ave, where all the stores put an employee, all dressed up for the occasion, at the doors to pass out candy. It is really quite a sight to see, and maybe Jack will enjoy it someday. Not this year, though.

This is the closest I got to a smile before he ripped the costume off and ran. Sometimes you have to just accept when you're licked.

Danny tried to take over the costume for him at that point. At least one of them looked like they were having fun.

We came home with one piece of candy. And it wasn't even chocolate. Looks like I'm going to have to wait a while until this parenthood thing starts paying dividends on the Halloween bounty front. That's okay, Jack. You don't need to dress up like a teddy bear to give me a big bear hug. You do that pretty well in regular old clothes every day of the year.

Yea for Jack and his disdain of candy. Less dental bills for you! If you need a candy fix, I happen to know some little boys who have about 20 pounds of the stuff. It will probably last until the next time you see them.

You can have some of our candy. Yikes we have a lot. I'm tempted to throw it away, but I feel kind of bad about that. I have at least confiscated it, and dole it out in small amounts. Mom is right, we probably have 20 pounds of it - just goes to show that they would be great hunter/gatherers if necessary. :)
