Cousins

The problem with keeping a blog in tandem with your sister is that when she visits she blogs about her visit and does a better job than you were going to, so sort of deflates any effort you were going to make at recording the events. Can I just syndicate your blog here for the next couple weeks, Ali?

Jack has had four days in a row with his cousins, and is kind of on fun overload. He can't sleep, he's so excited. He got to introduce them to his chickens and take them to his favorite park, and has spent the past few days in San Jose watching in wonder at those big boys playing while mommy hides upstairs trying to get work done and often discovering that one day's work undoes the previous days and is no longer really sure what progress even means anymore. But THAT is not the subject of this post. This is:

Jack is fascinated by Ava. Ava is very tolerant of Jack petting her like a puppy dog and only occasionally responds by trying to poke his eyes out. They are so cute together. I can't wait for the next visit, when I think they will really actually play. Jack tries to play with Thomas, but I think he frustrates him more than anything, by grabbing his lego vehicular contraptions and/or knocking over whatever was being precariously balanced on something else. His best playmate right now is actually Matthew, who, with lots of practice at this older sibling thing, is ever tolerant and very gentle.

I think Matthew will make a great babysitter in a few years...

Great pictures Becky -- I'm so glad Jack will have some extended time with his cousins on this visit. You and Ali capture completely different things, so it's a joy to read both of your accounts.

Awww, you're too sweet. I agree - we do have different perspectives. For example, I was going to write about how awful my kids are to Jack and how tolerant HE is. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle. I am excited for our next visit because I think Ava and Jack will have a great time together. :)
