How very rude of me, to post an SOS to the blog and then not follow up with the conclusion of the story. Sorry mom(s) and big sister! Hope you didn't worry about us! No, we did not perish in the snow on highway 80. We got home a mere 7 hours after we set out, astonishingly not even the longest trip to Tahoe on record, because after we took an hour to get the first 20 miles, and then sat motionless for three hours, and then spent another hour crawling along at 5 miles an hour, things really picked up and we made great time the rest of the way back. Another way to say that is it took us 80% of the time to go the first 1/6th of the trip. I told Danny there will be no more going up to Tahoe when a storm is anywhere in the vicinity of the forecast, whether they say it's not supposed to start until Sunday night, or Monday morning, or even Wednesday. I do love watching snow come down but it's not worth it.
Jack did have fun, though, in case that wasn't apparent in the first post. Here is a better show of what he spent those hours doing than I was able to capture on my phone's camera with no flash.

And mommy got to stay up until 2am working on a deadline that she was supposed to be able to work on from a coffee shop in Truckee until the snow started coming down 12 hours early, necessitating our early departure, before the laptop battery even had time to charge for a few precious hours of work in the car. With weekends like these, who needs work weeks?

Oh, goodness. Deadlines, traffic... you must be worn out and it's only the beginning of the week. Hugs.
Whew. I was nervous there for a bit. I don't like getting stuck without food or water - especially with little ones in the car. I'm glad you're home safe.
