Snowbound!

I just installed an iphone app to be able to post to the blog from my phone. Which is nice because we are stuck about twenty miles south of Tahoe on highway 80, and have no idea how many more hours we'll be sitting here. It's already been two. How many hours can it take to clear an accident? I guess we're going to find out. This weekend was Jack's first trip to Tahoe. We knew there was a storm coming, but thought we could get out before it got bad. There's not actually that much snow yet, just stupid people who drive too fast and block up the whole freeway with their accidents. We have let Jack out of his seat so he can romp around while we sit here idling. He likes holding onto the steering wheel and investigating all the knobs and buttons. He has a much more positive outlook about this whole experience than his parents do. Our friends are back at the cabin, having left a few minutes later than us and getting turned around because they closed down 80 at Truckee. I wish we'd stayed, since I have a mountain of work to get done and my computer just ran out of battery. Then we might've gotten stuck for good, but there's no assurance that we're not stuck for good here anyway. And I'd rather be stuck in a cabin than a car. Especially a car with no food except for some trail mix and moldy beef jerkey. Who knew beef jerkey could mold? Some emergency food that is! At least Jack's having a good time. Nothing makes or breaks your day like the mood of your child. And for now, that's good.

Yikes! How did it all end up? What time did you write that? I don't see where it says the time on your post.

Did you ever find out what the cause of the delay was? I assume you got back OK and will update us with the rest of the story soon...
