Block party!

This was Shafter Ave's 5th annual Block Party, and I was a bit startled to realized that we've been here for all but the first one. It doesn't feel like we've been here that long. The first year I was pregnant so couldn't partake of any beer or most of the food for that matter, the second year we came late from the marathon and were too exhausted to socialize very much, the third year Jack was still too young to not watch every second; this year I think we have hit a sweet spot where Jack was old enough to run around with the other kids and be entertained the whole time and Sadie was young enough to happily hang out in her stroller or on our laps so we actually got to sit around and enjoy ourselves with our neighbors.

It's fun watching these kids grow up together. If we manage to stay here that long, I'll be interested to see what kind of people they become. Danny has already decided who's going to be the popular one, the interesting one, the tough one, the hippie one...I'll have to make him write it down and see if he's right.

What a great neighborhood -- so many kids to play with. What label has Danny given to your kids?
