While Sadie took an epically long nap, Jack entertained us by hamming it up for the video camera and sang about a dozen songs which I will try to post someday soon but don't have time to go through right now, the material is too rich. Finally we couldn't wait any longer and woke Sadie up (poor baby, I never would've dreamt of doing that to Jack at this age) to go to a barbeque and pool party at our friend's house. Or rather, at the palatial estate our friend was house-sitting. (Palace-sitting?) Sadie had her first swim and was in a fine mood all day, despite the rude awakening. I think she liked the water. I'm not sure. She didn't complain. But she didn't shriek with glee quite the way she did when Rebeccah gave her airplane rides, either. You have to be careful about those airplane rides, though. Rebeccah apparently has no fear of spit-up in the face.

Happy birthday, America!
Jack loves singing happy birthday, he sings it when he washes his hands, he sings a variant of it in the tub ("happy bathtime to me"), he got to sing it to his friend Abby at her birthday party this weekend, and today he got to sing it to his country. We had a very pleasant 4th of July, lounging around the house in the morning, enjoying our freedom to do nothing, having some red white and blue waffles.
Jack was not even posing in that photo with Julius. That's just how I found them.

Jack loved the pool, too, of course. The only thing that could possibly drag him away from his giant tubtime was Abby. She wanted to ride the see-saw with him, though she changed her mind pretty much as soon as he got on. She plays hard to get sometimes, but at the end of the day she always has big hugs for him.
We came home at 7pm with two exhausted kids, thinking maybe they'd nap for a couple of hours and we'd still go out for fireworks at 9:30. Danny went in to get Jack up at 9, changed his diaper, changed his clothes, and he didn't even stir. Fireworks were not in the cards this year. Oh well.

We had to skip them for a few years too. It's okay. They are just as good three years from now. :)
And oh my gosh! That picture of Jack and Julius. How funny is that!?!
