A visit from godmother

Julia was in town this weekend and stopped by tonight for a visit. I have to say, I love friends that love my kids as much as they love me. Julia and I got caught up on each other's lives, which was wonderful, but almost even better than that was watching her with Jack. They started out with some hiding and seeking. This is how Jack hides.

He seems pretty convinced that if he can't see you, you must not be able to see him. Hiding quickly devolved, as it often does, into chasing. There was a whole lot of chasing. Julia is an expert chaser.

Julia used to run my legs off in the foothills at Stanford, and I don't think I ever saw her tired before she tried to keep up with Jack for half an hour. But she did succeed in tiring Jack out, too. He hasn't gone to bed so compliantly in quite some time. But he did request that godmother put him to bed. Or more accurately, he requested that I go away. He said, "Where's my friend?" and I asked "who's your friend?"-- looking at his many animals wondering which one he wanted tonight. He gave me a bashful smile and whispered "godmother...!"

Aren't they sweet? She spent some time with Sadie today, too, of course. I just didn't take as many photos of that.

Sadie was pretty intent on getting any part of Julia into her mouth. Hair, arm, shirt, didn't matter.  Beer bottle, cracker, cheese, watch, rubber band... I'm not particular, says Sadie, just as long as it's not a boring old baby toy. This girl watches me eat with little puppy dog eyes like she's begging for food. Sadie, not Julia. We didn't make Julia beg.

Such beautiful pictures! Looks like the asparagus makes a good hiding hedge.

I recall our runs in the foothills a little differently-- always had a hard time keeping up with you on those hills! It was so good to visit, even briefly, with you and your little ones. Jack is growing so fast and is such a sweet boy. I look forward to my next visit with my godson!

YES! Do it, God-dad! (to be fair, though, she doesn't have nearly as far to come...)

Godfather! You are definitely due for a visit, but be warned that if you make the long journey from the East that I will probably make my short journey from the South so that the God family can be re-united. Luckily the visit score sheet got smeared by Sadie when she got it into her mouth.
