Roadtrip!

A dear old friend from Tasmania (actually, from Minnesota, but I met her, remarkably enough, in Tasmania, despite growing up about 7 miles from each other) got married this weekend in Santa Barbara, so Danny and I took a little one-day roadtrip to the south. Sadie got to come, Jack did not. This has much to do with the fact that Sadie would spend 80% of the 30 hours in the car and at the wedding and reception sleeping, and Jack would not.

The theme of the weddings we have been to this year is: COLD. Everyone wants to get married in beautiful places outside but everyone forgets that it gets cold in California after the sun goes down. The theme of this wedding in particular was: British. And the British wear silly hats at weddings.

These were in our favors (we did not bring them ourselves). Kudos to Sara for holding a baby in her wedding dress, especially after I warned her that she'd just eaten and might spit up. She didn't care. That is a true friend.

Meanwhile, Jack got to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandad, wherein they took him to the Lawrence Hall of Science, which is kind of like the Cal Academy, only somewhat smaller and much closer. There was plenty to do there, including riding a BIG WHALE (which he still talks about), visiting his friend the iguana and other reptiles, examining dino bones, and much much more. We will have to take some trips back there, it sounded pretty exciting.

I don't think he missed us at all.
