Flower time!

Spring has most definitely sprung! After an extremely wet winter, wildflowers have popped up everywhere, and they have not escaped Jack's notice. Despite his zoophilia, he apparently does not discriminate against plants. He's not quite as interested in learning their names, or even saying the word "flower" (I think it's hard to pronounce, as it has both an L and an R), but he does love the colors. He just calls them by color name; as we go for a run in the stroller, he makes me stop to pick some periodically, saying "I want pink! I want yellow! Whoah! I want big yellow!" Then he holds them up to my nose and tells me "they're good, mommy!" I think I tried to make him smell some roses once and even though he doesn't really get how to sniff things yet, he makes a valiant effort at going through the motions.



Isn't he a sweetie pie? I tell you there is nothing that will melt your heart like when your little boy hands you some flowers he just picked for you (or maybe for himself and he's just spotted something he wants even more, either way).

Meanwhile, Sadie continues to charm those around her, without any need for flowers.

Early on, nana said she was stingy with her smiles, but no more. Nobody can get her to smile like Jack can, though. And he doesn't even have to try!

But he does put a lot of effort into making sure she's well-educated and exposed to lots of different stimuli, whether that's shoving a moose in her face, honking her nose, or bringing her a story to read. Family storytime is becoming one of our most treasured times.
