Baby acne has fully set in, poor thing, and I took one that makes her look kind of special. But it's because it makes me laugh. I thought she was doing a better job at focusing, but apparently not in this particular moment.
It just so happened that on Sadie's 1 month birthday, she got a couple of packages. One from her godparents Nick and Libby, with many more precious outfits, and one from Grandma, with many things, chief among them: socks. Grandma had noticed while she was visiting that the poor dear didn't have any socks that fit and was wearing Jack's too-big hand-me-downs. Boy socks, and dirty ones at that. Yuck. So Grandma sent pink and purple socks to go with all her pink and purple outfits I never thought I would be putting my daughter in, but they're so darn cute, and if you dress them gender neutral everyone just assumes they're a boy so what's the point of gender neutrality anyway.
While I was changing Sadie out of one of her footed outfits into a footless outfit to try these new socks out, Jack got ahold of them and used them for his own purposes.
Sock puppets! He ran around the house for an hour making believe the socks on his hands were different animals (usually predator and prey, so they could chase/eat each other), and it didn't bother him the least that the puppets themselves were formless masses that pretty much all looked identical. Actually, you could say the same about my play-doh creations, and he never seems to mind that much either. Toddler imagination is the saving grace of unartistic mommies everywhere.
One month in, Jack continues to be an absolute darling with his baby sister, though at this point it almost seems like he's milking it because he knows we love it. He sort of hams it up, especially when there are cameras around, giving her kisses and laying his head next to hers. Glad that he's seeking that sort of attention rather than the other kind, though! And even if he is posing, it doesn't melt my heart any less.

Loved the video! And I saw that Sadie is resting on her new warm fuzzy blanket. When the socks aren't needed on the baby's feet, I'm glad Jack can make such creative use of them. Yes toddler imagination is priceless.
Wow, you are so lucky that Jack took all that change so well. What an amazing kid.
Love your blog! And now I can get a heads up on what to expect from our baby 4 weeks in advance! Congrats on your family of FOUR!!!
Very cute video of Jack playing with the sock puppets! Love the way he is so tender with his baby sis!
Loved the video, and very cute of Jack and Sadie ! I am getting used to her name and with 'Jack" it is a very cute combo ! He is a real heart-throb and maybe an actor in training ! He'll have more use for those little sox that she ever will ! That's such a cute age, too ! I loved the foto and the little note from Sadie that arrived yesterday ! Thanks so much.
