This week there is lots to share. We went up to visit the Oregon grandparents in Cannon Beach and spent lots of time looking out over and running up to but not into what Jack called the "big wa-wa". (The biggest wa-wa of them all, his daddy agreed.) We made some progress in getting our city kid to tolerate substances other than hard wood or carpet under his bare feet. Sand is now an acceptable substance for walking on; grass isn't quite there yet. We spent some time exploring the tidepools, and some time just enjoying running around the sand.
We spent some time looking for birds with grandma and reading about bugs with granddad.
We took some walks in the woods...
and some walks on the beach, daring the tide to come get us.
We discovered old toys of daddy's made new by youthful jubilation...
and just generally enjoyed spending all this time with daddy, at one of daddy's favorite places in the whole world, where he would come every summer since he was your age, Jack, and looks forward to bringing you back every summer from now on.
Jack learned to say please and thank you this week and I think if he could string enough words together he would say "thank you, grandma and granddad, for a great week at the beach!" When I asked him if that isn't exactly what he would want to say to his grandparents if he could, he responded, "MINE!" Which I think is Jackspeak for "yes mommy, quite right!"

Oh, and can I say...GORGEOUS pictures!
Jack is so CUTE! I love the picture of him walking towards the camera in a brown sweatshirt on the sand. He is adorable.
