18 months

All day long when I was writing the date, I would notice that my baby was 18 months old today. But then when I got home things were somehow so busy and discombobulated I forgot to take a single picture of my year-and-a-half year old. So here is another cute one aunt la-la took on our visit last week.

At eighteen months Jack:

Runs everywhere!

Gives kisses, to people and inanimate objects

Makes inanimate objects kiss, accompanied by a "mmmah!" for sound effects

Gives hugs by tilting his head and leaning it against the hug target, doesn't quite get that the arms are supposed to be involved yet

Is starting to throw tantrums

Can still be diverted mid-tantrum by a well-placed bottle or dinosaur

Laughs hysterically when tickled

Plays rudimentary hide-and-seek, running around a corner and waiting for us to come find him

Knows all of his farm animals

May or may not recognize the letter D

Mimics everything we say, but doesn't necessarily incorporate it into his vocabulary (for example, can repeat "water" perfectly but still asks for "wa-wa")

LOVES water, by the way, and gets very frustrated when he is in it and we have the gall to try to take him out of it

Can eat well when he wants to but is non-negotiable when he doesn't (blueberries are almost always negotiable)

Is just a little bit stubborn, as you may have gathered

Always seems to know when we are leaving, and will bid people and the cat an enthusiastic "buh-bye!"

Loves to knock on doors upon arriving

Tries his hardest to be gentle with his cat but still scares him away most of the time

Is very loving but just too busy to stay in my lap or a hug for more than a few seconds -- there is so much to see and do!
