The rains have started. Summer is officially over. Jack has caught a cold to go along with our shift in weather pattern, and tried to get up at 6 this morning despite needing more sleep to fight off this bug, so I decided if he wasn't going to sleep in his crib he was going to lie in bed with me until at least 7. We fell asleep cuddled up together in that extra snuggly way that is only possible when you're in a warm bed with the rain drumming down on the roof outside, and the next thing I knew it was 8:30. If only every morning could be a rainy morning! Jack was a much happier boy when he woke up the second time, although he did remind me that I forgot one very important thing on the last blog post, which I kept in my head all day through my diversified farming systems roundtable and lab meeting and informational interview with a AAAS fellow and after dinner drinks with Danny's godsister. I kept it in my head until now, when I should be heading to bed, but just had to add this because the way life is right now who knows when I'll post next and if I'll remember then.
I forgot to mention what Jack was doing during the marathon! Jack was very well taken care of, by our loving and capable friends Carrie and Jeremy. They met us at the finish and I think I was even more excited to see my baby than I was to finally be done running. He was in a great mood.

I guess that's all. I didn't really have much to say about it, just some cute photos I am appalled I left out. I don't know what they did all day except that Carrie somehow got Jack to nap twice (which is more than I can do these days) and Jeremy said he taught Jack about capitalism. Via his ring stacker. I'm not exactly sure how. But it sounds like a successful 6 hours. Huzzah!

HEY! I recognize that shirt! It looks better on Jack than it did on my boys. I have even more clothes set aside for you when you come to visit in November! :)
