As the (so far) quiet partner in this endeavor, I've decided to use news of my new job to break my silence and let everyone know the latest on Danny's professional path. I recently accepted a position as the CSA and Farmers Market Sales Manager at Frog Hollow Farm, which produces over 25 varieties of certified organic stone fruits, pears and table grapes on 120 acres in Brentwood. As one of Frog Hollow's direct sales managers, I'll get to travel around the Bay Area, meet customers, talk about Frog Hollow's commitment to sustainable agriculture, answer any questions, and share the bounty of tasty local foods. This career change came out of a long process of soul searching that Becky and I have been through since Jack was born. This job brings us closer to the earth, closer to the people who produce our food, and closer to our hope of one day owning or managing our own farm. It feels great to be returning to my "roots" in agriculture (I haven't had a "farm job since 2004) and I can't wait to get started. D-Day is May 11. Onward!
